Event Description

Dr. Julie Beischel, a premier investigator in the fields of survival of consciousness ("life after death") and mediumship research, will speak about:

- How mediumship is investigated in a controlled laboratory setting
- What conclusions can be drawn from the data collected to date
- The practical applications of mediumship in grief recovery and hospice care
- How mediumship can affect the lives of those who have lost a loved one
- How to choose a medium and get the most out of your reading

Dr. Julie Beischel is one of the premier investigators in the fields of survival of consciousness ("life after death") and mediumship research. She is the Co-Founder and Director of Research at The Windbridge Institute for Applied Research in Human Potential where she performs high quality, cutting-edge, peer-reviewed research studying mediums and the information they report as well as their experiences during communication with the deceased. Dr. Beischel's academic training in several interdisciplinary scientific fields allows her to design and apply traditional research methods to investigating these more unconventional topics of study.

Dr. Beischel received her PhD in Pharmacology and Toxicology with a minor in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Arizona.

She was the first ever recipient of the William James Post-doctoral Fellowship in Mediumship and Survival Research at the University of Arizona where she served as Co-Director of the VERITAS Research Program with Dr. Gary E. Schwartz before moving the research and the screening and training of prospective research mediums to Windbridge in January of 2008.

Dr. Beischel is currently a member of the Parapsychological Association, a member of the scientific advisory boards of the Rhine Research Center and the Forever Family Foundation, and an Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) Shift-In-Action Luminary. She is the recipient of a 2008 Bial Foundation research grant and has published a number of peer-reviewed articles in journals such as Journal of Scientific Exploration, Journal of Parapsychology, and Explore: the Journal of Science and Healing.

About The Windbridge Institute

The Windbridge Institute for Applied Research in Human Potential is an independent research organization consisting of a community of scientists of varied backgrounds, specialties, and interests investigating what our bodies, minds, and spirits are capable of and how that information can best serve all living things. At Windbridge, high quality, cutting-edge research protocols are reviewed by an extensive and experienced scientific advisory board and studies include basic research as well as applied research, the results of which will serve a practical purpose in society. Windbridge was founded by husband and wife research team Mark Boccuzzi and Julie Beischel.

At this time, Windbridge is primarily interested in research regarding the survival of consciousness hypothesis; that is, the theory that an individual's consciousness or personality continues to exist, separate from the body, after physical death. The principal methods for carrying out that investigation involve:

1) Investigating technologies that may be useful in enhancing interaction and communication with deceased individuals (discarnates),

2) Addressing reports of haunting and apparition phenomena using both field and laboratory methods, and

3) Studying mediums (individuals who experience regular communication with the deceased) and the information they report as well as their experiences during the communication. Windbridge screens, trains, and certifies the mediums who participate in research using a multi-step process that takes each medium several months to complete.

In addition to afterlife and survival of consciousness research, Windbridge also performs applied intuition research, applied intention research, planetary consciousness and health research, and studies on complementary and alternative therapies for personal health and healing.

The Windbridge Institute offers memberships to those interested in the topics studied there. Members receive:

- Access to new and archived issues of the quarterly e-newsletter, Winds of Change,
- Timely news and events updates,
- Discounts on Windbridge events and conferences,
- and for Enhanced Members, Access to the Windbridge online Groupsite.

The Windbridge Groupsite is an invitation-only, more secure, advertisement-free, searchable version of popular social networking sites where Members as well as Windbridge Researchers, Advisors, and Mediums can connect. The groupsite includes: discussion forums (including "Ask a Medium" and "Ask a Researcher"), a photo gallery, Windbridge articles and book reviews, audio interviews, a calendar of events, relevant popular media articles, and members' profiles.

Now is a perfect time to become a Windbridge member and take advantage of these benefits.
